Every piece at Eagle & Rose is chosen or created with longevity in mind. Whether it’s an authentic Native American-crafted design or an original Eagle & Rose piece, a little care will help preserve its beauty for years to come.
Materials
Our jewellery is crafted from sterling silver, fine silver and copper. Where applicable, product listings will specify the materials used.
Many of our pieces feature genuine natural or stabilised turquoise and other natural gemstones. These stones are individually selected for their unique character and may display natural variations in colour, matrix, shape or surface texture. Features such as natural pits are part of what makes each stone one of a kind.
No two stones will ever be exactly alike, and these natural characteristics should be celebrated rather than considered imperfections.
Caring for Natural Stones
Natural gemstones deserve thoughtful care. Turquoise and many other gemstones are softer than people realise and can be scratched, chipped or broken by knocks and impacts. Consider removing your jewellery before gardening, exercising, lifting heavy objects or undertaking any activity where it may be damaged.
Many natural stones, particularly turquoise, are also porous. Prolonged exposure to water, lotions, perfumes, sunscreen, oils, cleaning products and household chemicals may permanently alter the appearance of the stone.
For this reason, we recommend removing your jewellery before showering, swimming, washing dishes or applying beauty products. It’s no coincidence that jewellery has traditionally been the final touch when getting dressed.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally develops a patina over time as it reacts with air, moisture and the oils in our skin. This is a normal characteristic of genuine sterling silver and not a fault. Some people love the depth and character that patina creates, while others prefer a brighter finish. Both are simply personal preference.
Cleaning
We recommend using a quality sterling silver polishing cloth to gently restore shine and reduce tarnish on silver surfaces. Take care to avoid rubbing polishing cloths or abrasive cleaners directly on natural gemstones, as they may damage the surface of softer stones.
Storage
When not being worn, store your jewellery in a dry, low-humidity environment. Keeping pieces individually in soft pouches or airtight bags will help minimise tarnish and prevent scratches from contact with other jewellery. Natural stone jewellery should always be stored with care to help protect settings and gemstones.
